  6. How can my Broadband usage affect call quality?

A VoIP call requires constant bandwidth over the length of a call to ensure good quality. If during a call you upload or download large amounts of data this can affect voice quality in a number of ways, including time delays, static on the line, interrupted speech and jitter. 12. Does the Global Telecom VoIP Phone Adapter work behind a firewall?

Our chosen Phone Adapter, the Grandstream 486 ATA, works behind most firewalls, but not those which completely restrict all traffic. If you have problems with one-way speech this could be down to misconfigured router or firewall settings. Please contact our support line for advice on Port Forwarding, or default DMZ settings. In some cases your router may require a Firmware upgrade to allow SIP traffic to be routed correctly.

  13. What type of Broadband connection do I require?
